Avue Digital Services User Guide

Avue digital services is an on-line application system used by the Forest Service for anyone interested in applying for a job. It can be confusing sometimes, but I will attempt to navigate you through the process

First....log on to www.avuedigitalservices.com/usfs/applicant.html

Next, you're going to want to go to "sign up" on the upper right and create a profile, similar to a lot of other websites...all that's mandatory is a unique user id and password...remember these!!

Then you need to create a profile...this has your address, full name, etc as well as your job history...this is what's going to take the most time, after you do it once. you simply need to update once your job history changes

Then I'm assuming you're going to want to apply for a job, so click that, and either click the state you would like to work in or click on either nationwide or worldwide...as you scroll over each state, you will see how many current vacancies are in each state....but what I prefer to do is filter my search , which is another tab above the states. This is where you weed out jobs by choosing your salary range, series, title, etc. A lot of this info can be found on www.usajobs.gov( which is the online database for job announcements for the feds). So to clarify, usajobs is the announcement website for entire federal government...avue is the APPLICATION website for the US Forest Service. Don't get confused!

So after you find the job you want, you add them to your cart and apply to them based on your profile and resume you created earlier...Avue will tell you(based on what you input) whether you qualify or not. Good luck!!!!

gimme a little more info...seasonal or permanent?

Jane 15 months ago

Yeah, same with me. Half of the information I had saved into "my profile" has disappeared since the move to the "career portfolio" and several of my permanent open and continuous applications have completely disappeared. No record that I ever applied for them and I am positive that I did! Now I only have a week to get all of my info and applications back in before the cut-off date for region 5 fire hire. So far, it has taken me over 3 hours just to get my training info entered again! AVUE is insanely slow now. What a horrible program

Avue is the worst peice of garbage program ever. I want the Forest Service to go back to USA Jobs. At least with them, you could sign in and submit an application. I am given a password from Avue and when I try it ,the response is "invalid." I tried for two hours yesterday to get in for a hot Forest Service job which closes in 5 days. I called the government employer, and they even admitted Avue was a bad choice to handle the Forest Service Applications. My record of government job apps. has also disappeared from Avue's files. I tried calling Avue's listed phone number, and all I got was a two pre-recorded menu/messege! This really sucks and will probably cost me a job opportunity with the Forest Service/Job Corps.

I heard the FS is going back to USAJOBS very soon. Is that true?

Karl 5 months ago

AVUE software virtually takes over your computer attempting to run "Virus scans" on mandatory government documents it requires as part of the application. USAJOBS does this in 2 minutes, AVUE takes hours WTF? Do the folks at USDA really want applications or is this just another waste of time for job applicants?
